Meet Shivam from India, who has always dreamt of studying MBBS abroad; after plenty of research and discoveries, he chose Tajikistan to be his dream MBBS country. Like everyone, he was a bit nervous while leaving his country. Plenty of misconceptions that he had heard were also running through his mind; moreover, he was excited to start his new journey, where the white coat is waiting for him in Tajikistan. Now he has finally arrived at the destination. This blog will share his experience of pursuing MBBS in Tajikistan.
As he reached Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, a mixed feeling of excitement and nervousness greeted him. He left his familiar comfort in India and was now embarking on a new chapter in his life as an MBBS student. Tajikistan is a stunning beauty. It already took a breath away as soon as he stepped into the country. The alluring scenic view he had never experienced before.
The first few days in Dushanbe were a turmoil with new experiences. The city has its unique charm away from the hustling and bustling cities of India. The blend of rich history and modernization was carved in every stone. The people he connected to were warm and welcoming; they accepted him with open arms and helped with an introduction to the city.
The academic experience and campus were beyond words. An alluring campus every student had dreamt of, and he was living that dream. Faculties were experts in their field and supportive. The curriculum was vast yet fulfilling. He felt an enthusiasm as he came across his batchmates. He felt a sense of world-class faculty and multiple opportunities on his way.
At first, language made communication a little challenging, but the universities had English as the medium of instruction, so it didn’t bother him much, and after a time of interacting with local batchmates and surrounding people, he got familiar with their local language as well. It made him realize that learning a new language is fun and good for your self-development.
One thing that he noticed and liked about Tajikistan is its slow pace; he felt that unlike India, the country seems to move at a slow pace. People there enjoy their time and appreciate the simple living and pleasure of life. They take their time, enjoy their leisure conversations, and enjoy simple living. For me, it was a refreshing environment away from chaos.
Initially, he started exploring the city. He visited a few places like the National Museum, Rudaki Park, Registan Bazaar, etc. He loved the country’s fascinating history and greenery. Market was a little bustling, where he got almost everything he needed.
The highlight of his early days was visiting the Ismaili Center. This impressive complex is a testament to the country’s heritage. The architecture, the gardens, and the serene atmosphere of the Ismaili Center left a lasting impression on him.
Food is everyone’s apple eye, especially when it comes with a blend of Persian, Turkish, and Russian tastes. Tajikistan has always been famous for its multicultural cuisine. He explored a few restaurants and places for good food. He tried a variety of dishes, including plov, samsa, and shashlik. Those rich flavors were bold and satisfying; he became a fan of Tajik cuisine.
We all have heard about the Pamir mountains in geography; now it was the time for him to witness it. He was excited about it. His memorable experience was his trip to the Pamir Mountains.
He hiked to lush valleys, snow-capped mountains, and a beautiful view of a traditional village. A worthy adventurous experience that helped him give a deeper appreciation for the beauty of Tajikistan.
He made plenty of good friends there. Initially he was a bit nervous about making friends in a new country, but as we all know, friends make life a bit easier. He quickly realized that people in Tajikistan are quite friendly and hospitable. He started going out with them, roaming, attending cultural events, playing games, going on social events, studying, and much more.
Every country has its own culture and its own significance. He was new to the culture but accepted it wholeheartedly. People are more relaxed and laid-back. It took a little time for him to adjust, as he belongs to India with a fast-paced environment.
Anything in life is not without challenges; so is MBBS. Initially it took him a while to adjust to the environment, the language, new place, curriculum, friends, and culture, but everything is two-way.
However, the rewards far outweighed the challenges. He gained a deeper understanding of the world, made lifelong friends, and developed valuable skills that will benefit him throughout his career.
His first impressions of Tajikistan were overwhelmingly positive. The country's rich culture, stunning landscapes, and friendly people made him feel welcome and at home. While there were challenges to overcome, he was excited to embark on this new adventure and learn as much as he could. As he continued his journey as an MBBS student in Tajikistan, he knew that he was in for a life-changing experience.
